HISTORY
B&E Electronics Ltd. was originally established in 1975 to service the growing television and communications industry in Calgary Alberta. Our founding partners previously managed stores for CamGard Electronic Supply Ltd., the leading electronic distribution company operating in Canada at the time. In the years since inception, B&E has grown into Southern Alberta's leading stocking electronic parts supplier as well as expanding into Saskatchewan with branches in Saskatoon and Regina.
Our product offering has expanded over those years to include materials required throughout the full electronic manufacturing and maintenance industries allowing us to service a wide variety of customer profiles including broadcasting, educational, industrial, medical, seismic, and telecommunication industries. Our linecard has grown from an initial offering of 15 key product lines to over 100 actively stocked and access to many more either directly or through our association with Edge Marketing and Procurement. In 1988, B&E became the first Alberta Electronic Distributor to be fully computerized utilizing an IBM System36 Midrange computer operating the AIS/Discovery distribution software package. Since then we have regularly upgraded our systems to keep pace with the industry's ever changing requirements.
PRESENT
Presently B&E services over 5000 individual accounts throughout Southern Alberta and Saskatchewan. The Calgary office employs 18 people with an additional 8 in the Regina location and 5 in Saskatoon. All are dedicated and trained in customer service with most working an average of over 10 years within the electronic distribution industry. Customers are serviced primarily through the order desk or by personally visiting our 10,000 square foot Calgary store or similar locations in Saskatchewan. Inventory selection and levels are automatically monitored to ensure that a variety of standard and industry specific products are always available. With over $900,000 of stock in Calgary and an additional similar amount in Saskatchewan, it is usually not necessary to wait for expensive presumed "next day" deliveries from remote warehouses in Ontario or the U.S. B&E operates these locations utilizing a fully integrated IBM AS400 computer system running the latest version of AIS/Discovery Distribution software. All three locations are online full time allowing simple, fast movement of product between warehouses to meet customer requirements. Also, B&E is an active partner in the Edge Marketing Group. This organization of similar distributors across the U.S. and Canada are linked online giving access to a database containing all of the Edge membership's inventory. With this extensive system we can quickly source product with a few simple keystrokes.
